The Intrepid Tulip

.
It snowed a lot in the mountains. Well into April and even May. There would be warm days. Then there would be cold days. Wet and cold days.
This was a problem for some of the early flowers who were fooled into thinking it was time to bloom. On warm days they would feel the sun on the dirt above them and they thought it was safe to come out and stretch their leaves and buds and petals. And rise towards the sun. And play outside with the bees and birds and bugs. And sometimes it was safe. But sometimes it would rain outside, and get colder and colder....and make snow. And that was hard on some flowers.
But not for the tulips. They were strong. They knew how to stay alive during the snow. They knew how to keep their buds tightly shut and to not suffer.
